16 Fashion Trends Started By Rihanna

Rihanna is our fashion icon of the decade. She’s not only taken over music, but now fashion and beauty. Rihanna’s created so many fashion trends just by walking down the street. Whatever she wears, everyone else follows. This year marks the fifth anniversary of ANTI. The album gave us many great iconic moments. Remember her black lipstick, who else could pull that off? Or when Rihanna dropped the Needed Me music video? That scene where she looks out the window in her pearl choker and see-through top is forever marked as an iconic cultural moment.

Those aren’t the only trends Rihanna has created. She’s been a fan of colorful furs since, well, forever. Her MET GALA Guo Pei yellow fur coat was showstopping, no one could stop talking about it. What makes Rihanna special is that she’s not afraid to try something that’s untrendy. But when she does it, she makes it trendy. Take example of the 90’s classic fashion staples: chokers, square-toe shoes, mullets, and bucket hats. These have been staples in Rihanna’s closets for years. Now she’s an entrepreneur, she’s brought her favorite pieces in her Fenty, Savage x Fenty and collaboration lines. Some include mini bags, strappy heels and dark lipsticks. Even when they fade out of style, Rihanna will keep rocking them.
