Land ownership is one of the most divisive issues in South Africa today. More than 30 years after the end of apartheid, black and white communities are locked in a struggle over race and space. From Orania, the whites-only Afrikaner enclave fighting to preserve its identity, to the Economic Freedom Fighters demanding radical redistribution and the shutdown of “racism” communities, the debate cuts to the heart of what South Africa has become.

Beyond Borders explores the voices of white farmers fearing for their future, black farmers proving that new generations can thrive on the land, and indigenous Khoi and San people who say their ancestral territory was stolen not only by Europeans but also by other Africans. We also follow families returning to homes they were forced from under apartheid and along the way, confront claims of “white genocide,” Donald Trump’s controversial comments about Afrikaners, and the continuing tension over land reform.

From Cape Town to the Kalahari, Beyond Borders investigates how history, identity, and politics collide in the fight for South Africa’s soil.
