手技 TEWAZA 「砥部焼」 TOBE-YAKI（PORCELAIN）／伝統工芸 青山スクエア Japan traditional crafts Aoyama Square

起源は18世紀後半、伊万里・有田焼の強い影響を受けて始まった。民窯として発達してきたので、作られるものは庶民的な日用品が主で、大阪方面にも出荷された。厚手の磁器で堅牢さに特色がある。今日では、新しい感覚の絵付けのものも作られている。

Originating in the late 18th century, this ware was exported under the name of lyo bowls. Both traditional and modern motifs are painted with strong stroke in gosu, a blue pigment produced from natural cobalt. Because it has a rather thick body, this porcelain is not so fragile and can keep the hot water from cooling as well as preventing the heat generated from burning when held in the hand.
