The all-new Polestar 5 is finally here, and it’s the first truly bespoke Polestar, built on an in-house aluminium platform with a brand-new motor, battery, and design philosophy. Starting at around £90,000 in the UK, this flagship EV Grand Tourer is aimed squarely at the Porsche Taycan and Panamera.

In this video, I walk you through:
- The sleek GT-style exterior inspired by the Precept concept
- SmartZone tech, pixel LED headlights, and futuristic rear-end with no rear window
- A spacious yet minimalist Scandinavian interior with Bowers & Wilkins audio, massage seats, and recycled sustainable materials
- Practical touches like the boot layout, glass roof, and clever cabin packaging
- Technical highlights: 550–650 kW dual-motor powertrains, 800V charging up to 350 kW, and ~400 miles WLTP range
- Suspension setup: passive dampers on the standard model, MagneRide adaptive dampers on the Performance version
- My honest thoughts on where Polestar nailed it and where compromises remain

Only sales numbers will answer the biggest question: can a brand as young as Polestar take on the well-established Porsche in the premium electric GT space?
