Our new series will cover the Dance of Dragons, starting with the reign of Jaehaerys the Conciliator, the King who couldn't stop the Targaryen Civil War (https://youtu.be/tTm8DZ40r4Q), while this video will give a brief overview of GRRM's Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas (The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, The Mystery Knight). Westeros is famous for tearing down the romantic ideal of knighthood—but the Dunk and Egg novellas do the opposite. In this longform story recap, we follow Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall, a poor hedge knight with an oversized heart, and his sharp-tongued squire “Egg,” whose true identity could shake the Seven Kingdoms. Set in 209 AC—decades after the first Blackfyre Rebellion—these tales zoom in from dynastic politics to muddy roads, tourney fields, and the fragile line between honor and survival. We cover all three novellas in order: The Hedge Knight, where Dunk defends the innocent and is forced into a legendary Trial by Seven; The Sworn Sword, where drought, pride, and a river dispute threaten to ignite a private war; and The Mystery Knight, where a “traitor’s tourney” at Whitewalls hides a rebellion, a stolen dragon egg, and a prince playing the boldest bluff of his life. By the end, Dunk and Egg aren’t just wandering knights—they’re pieces on the board of history, and the realm will never be the same.
