WUSA’s Great Day Washington Spotlights DowntownDC Foundation

Rachel Rose Hartman, DowntownDC Foundation Executive Director, joined Elaine Espinola on WUSA9’s Great Day Washington to spotlight our year-end giving campaign, Hope for the Holidays.

The conversation highlighted the Foundation’s impact on the district, from signature community events to transformative park enhancements in DowntownDC, to homeless services programs like our Welcome Home Kits.

“When an individual's transitioning from homelessness to housing, they send us a wish list of items for their new place. We try to make their house into more of a home. We'll supply them with some of the items here; kitchen items, bath items, cleaning supplies, things that you might not realize you needed, and things we take for granted. A woman last year asked for all pink bedding, and we were so happy to do that because at a time when you don't have a lot of choices in your life, we tried to provide a little bit.” - Rachel Hartman
