I’m back with @TeddyBaldassarre , one of my longtime watch buddies to break down the best watches around $1,000 (and a few standouts from about $200–$1,200).

We’re talking real value: great dials, solid movements, and watches you can actually buy, from Seiko staples to dive-watch heritage and a few sleepers that punch way above their price.

We shot this at @the1916company lounge, surrounded by some of the best watch expertise in the business — the perfect setting for a conversation about building a collection the right way.

At the end, I pick my top three and the single winner, the kind of watch people spot from 20 feet away and ask, “What is that?” That’s where the journey starts.

One rule: never buy a watch you can’t afford and if you travel with watches, insure them properly.
