If you’re building a DIY cold plunge and looking for an affordable water chiller, the Rocita 1/3 HP unit might be the best bang for your buck. I’ve used it on my last two cold plunge builds, and in this video, I’ll show you what you get out of the box, what it can’t do on its own, and the exact modifications needed to make it work for a cold plunge system.

This 1/3 horsepower chiller is rated for aquariums up to 75 gallons but works effectively in 100–150 gallon DIY insulated stock tank cold plunges — especially when paired with the right pump and plumbing. It’s compact, quiet, and cools water efficiently down to about 39°F under the right conditions.

But there’s a catch:
It doesn’t come with a built-in pump, and you’ll need to modify the top-mounted threaded ports to connect it to a proper cold plunge setup. I’ll show you what to expect and why I continue to use it.
