Hi Kat and friends! It was a very cool day with a very dramatic ending, as you'll see (and hear). Every stop was a highlight! April 4, 2022.
The hike was to the Pesuta (Pezuta) shipwreck on the shore of Naikoon Provincial Park just outside of Tlell. It's located right at the end of the Tlell River. The wooden vessel ran aground on Dec. 11, 1928 and its remains are now a tourist attraction. How lovely.
I then visited the Golden Spruce Trail. As you know, my trip was greatly inspired by the book "The Golden Spruce: A True Story of Myth, Madness, and Greed" by John Vaillant. If you haven't read it, hurry up and pick up a copy. It's a awesome tale of history, legend of the forestry, the Golden Spruce and the Haida people centred around a man who took it into his own hands to cut down the mythical tree.
I ended the day on the northern end of Haida Gwaii at Agate Beach, just around the corner of North Beach. It is the best spot to camp on the archipelago, given the right conditions...
Let me know what else you want to see if I haven't show it.
Next, I travel to another legendary place that is tied into the geography of the land.
