Flying Over Hemerdon: 34028 Eddystone Aces the Great Britain XVIII Day Two - 2026

A short trip across Devon and Cornwall, for part two of the weekend's action. The Great Britain XVIII was returning to Chester having spent the night in the Duchy, once again hauled by West Country Class Steam Locomotive, 34028 Eddystone - a recent returner to the mainline in the preservation era. Expectations remained high, and once again, Eddystone and the crew smashed it! Starting from Penzance, day two of the ‘Great Britain’ ran on time or early with no problems attacking the West Country Banks. Hemerdon was a standard ‘West Coast’ climb, with the diesel assisting for half the climb, before shutting off and allowing the locomotive to pass under the bridge at the top of the hill, doing all the work.
