ご意見は様々あってしかるべしでしょうが、普通なら取り換えてしまう古い材を少しでも多く使うための技法です。（その説明が不足してしまっているのがこの動画の問題です）
継手や取り換えなら多くが新材に変わってしまいますが、接着剤を使うことで、多くの古材を使うことができます。
文化財の古材保存という観点では推奨されるやり方で、文化財では古材を保存することが第一義とされます。また、古材には数百年の歴史の情報がつまっているのです。
また、外部の紫外線や雨にさらされる箇所に接着剤を用いるとすぐに劣化しますが、内部の雨のかからないところなら、約100年は問題がなかった実例もあります。(昭和初期の合板)
ちなみに、冒頭にこの修理の説明をしているのは、以前規矩術の選定保存技術者に選定されていた持田武夫先生であることも、申し添えておきます。文化財修理を知っている大工さんなら皆知っていると思いますが。

Also, if adhesives are used on the outside exposed to UV rays and rain, they will deteriorate quickly, but there are examples where there was no problem for about 100 years if the inside was not exposed to rain. (Plywood from the early Showa era)
By the way, I would like to add that the person who explained this repair at the beginning was Mr. Takeo Mochida, who was previously selected as a selected preservation engineer of Kikujutsu. I think that all carpenters who know about repairing cultural properties know this.
