Our stay at Winton Woods Campground in Cincinnati, OH from Friday, 9/19 to Monday, 9/22/2025. This is a county park, one of the Great Parks of Hamilton County group. There are 115 campsites, many of which are full hook-ups and several pull-throughs, and 6 cabins, which is amazing for a county park. There is a nice lake for boating and fishing, but unfortunately, the lake area was closed, as they had lowered the water level to perform some dam maintenance. We did know this ahead of time, so we didn't bring our kayaks or fishing poles.
Although we have been hoping to take a summer trip to Winton Woods, the main reason we stayed there this time was to watch two of our grandsons play baseball at Blue Ash Sports Center, a short drive away. We always enjoy watching them play, and can't always make their games, so this was a great opportunity to see both boys play. (So we probably wouldn't have had much time to fish or kayak anyway!)
When I learned about the baseball games and checked for availability, there was nothing that weeked. I kept checking, and one site opened up so I grabbed it. Little did we know we were camped under a walnut tree, and since it was early fall, we started hearing the walnuts falling on our roof. Or should I say, crashing on our roof - it was so loud! So then we knew whay that site was open! We didn't see any damage, but it woke us up a few times during the night. So beware of walnut trees if you are camping there (or anywhere) in the fall.
It was still a good trip, and we do plan to return again and enjoy the lake next time.
Thanks for watching - we appreciate you!
