It's a well known fact that after defeating the Germans with a lone trenchgun, British forces during the great war then suffered a huge loss, in court. The German prosecution argued that shotguns were unfair, and breached the gentlemanly conduct of warfare. The retributions were huge, and crashed the British economy.
