Was trying to convert a window to French doors a MISTAKE?

The days are colder and nights darker and shorter, so what PERFECT time to try and replace an old window and transform into French doors while panicking whether you've measured correctly?

Originally I was going to hire a local company to fit these and the larger ones, but after being quoted a total of £5400 including fitting, I decided to call the double glazing company back in my home town of Doncaster and was quoted half the price.
