Viva Variety was a variety show, and a spoof of one too. At the time this aired, variety was a dead genre for over a decade but many of the 18-34 demographic of TV viewers at the time had grown up with the variety shows of the 70s. Years later variety has returned strongly in a different guise with the competition performance shows (singing, dancing, music) of the 2000s.
