The Story of the Ilyushin Il-86 and Il-96

Venturing to an area I don't often tread, we now look east to the former Soviet Union, where in order to compete with the wide-body airliners of the capitalist West, the USSR responded with the Ilyushin Il-86, an airliner that on paper could have had potential, but was stymied by political and economic forces endemic to the communist nation, thereby ruining the chances of this formidable machine.
