Welcome back to another raw and unfiltered adventure exploring the hidden corners of West Bengal! Today’s journey was a tale of two completely different worlds—starting with the fresh breeze of the open sea and ending in one of the most intense, aromatic locations I have ever visited.
Part 1: The Voyage to Jambudweep Island
We kicked off the adventure by heading straight to the fishing harbor in Fraserganj. We chartered a local boat and set sail into the Bay of Bengal, leaving the mainland behind. The destination was the isolated and mysterious Jambudweep Island.
The boat ride was an experience in itself, navigating the choppy waters with local fishermen. As we approached the island, the isolation and natural beauty were striking. It is a place often used by fishermen as a temporary base, and seeing it up close, away from the crowded tourist spots of Bakkhali, felt like a true expedition. We explored the surroundings and soaked in the remote atmosphere before turning back toward the coast.
Part 2: The Endless Dry Fish Village (Shutki Hub)
After returning to the mainland, we traded the fresh sea air for something much more intense. We headed straight into the heart of the massive Dry Fish (Shutki Mach) processing center. Honestly, the smell hits you long before you even see the village!
Stepping out of the car, we were greeted by a sight I will never forget: endless horizons of bamboo racks (machas) stretching as far as the eye could see, covered in thousands upon thousands of fish drying under the harsh sun. It was a complete contrast to the quiet island we had just visited. Walking through the narrow aisles between the racks was incredible. We witnessed the immense scale of this operation that supplies dried fish across the country. It’s a gritty, tough environment, and we met the hardworking local villagers whose lives revolve around this trade. You'll see them sorting, spreading, and turning the fish—a process that happens every single day.
This vlog is a perfect mix of open-sea adventure and raw, unfiltered culture. It’s not your typical tourist video, and that's exactly why we loved making it.
