The life of the half-immortal who advised CCP leaders

Despite being staunch atheists, Chinese Communist leaders and their officials have long believed in supernatural powers and often consulted psychics. Local officials in Northeast China once discovered a man from a rural area who has the ability to see both the past and the future. They called him Half-Immortal Wang and frequently sought him out for fortune-telling. Eventually, Wang was brought to Beijing, where he advised some of the most powerful men in China. Yet despite his uncanny ability to foresee events, Wang couldn’t escape a tragic fate himself. His most important prophecy? The end of the Chinese Communist Party—and according to Wang, it’s just around the corner.
