During the First World War, there were around 750,000 British and Commonwealth casualties in the trenches around Ypres. But the remains of fighting at the small village of Boesinghe (now Boezinge) vanished from history – until the late 1990s, when a group of passionate amateur archaeologists known as the Diggers uncovered its lost WW1 battlefield, rewriting the story of the Great War.
