There comes a time when your favorite franchise isn’t yours anymore. Fallout was once one of my favorite post-apocalyptic RPG franchises, known for its dark tone, retro-futurism, and sharp social commentary. Over the years, and especially with the release of the Fallout TV show, that identity feels increasingly lost.

In this video, I share my personal thoughts and opinions on the modern direction of Fallout, Bethesda’s stewardship of the franchise, and why the series no longer feels like the Fallout I grew up with. This isn’t a lore breakdown or a review packed with spoilers — it’s a broader reflection on watching something you love change under new creative visions.

I also talk about similar issues with other long-running franchises like Star Wars, emotional attachment to fictional worlds, and why losing creative roots can be frustrating for longtime fans. Before Fallout season 2 releases, I also recommend a film that captures the bleak, strange, and uncomfortable spirit that early Fallout was inspired by.

If you’re a fan of classic Fallout, Fallout 2, New Vegas, or you’ve been conflicted about the Fallout TV series, this video might resonate with you — even if you don’t agree with everything I say.
