A Certified Professional Soil Scientist and nationally recognized leader in regenerative agriculture, Ray has been featured in the documentaries Kiss the Ground and Common Ground. With over 30 years at the USDA-NRCS as a Soil Conservationist and Agronomist, he has worked across several states promoting soil health and water quality.

Ray holds degrees in Livestock Science and Agricultural Biology, served two years in the Peace Corps in Guatemala as a Livestock Specialist, and is the founder of Understanding Ag, LLC and the Soil Health Academy, where he teaches biomimicry and agroecology to farmers nationwide. He and his family practice what he teaches on their own 155-acre farm in Missouri.
