Savannah Guthrie Returns to Today After Nancy Guthries Disappearance | E! News

Savannah Guthrie made an emotional return to ‘Today’ for the first since her mother Nancy Guthrie was abducted at the end of January. "Good morning, welcome to ‘Today’ on this Monday morning. We are so glad you started your week with us," she told viewers at the beginning of the April 6 broadcast. "And it is good to be home." To which Craig Melvin affirmed, while briefly holding her hand, "Yes, it is good to have you at home.” Savannah didn't spend too much time addressing her absence at the start of the show, instead introducing an update on the war in Iran. "Here we go, ready or not," she said, "let’s do the news." Though this is the first time Savannah has returned to the morning show for a live broadcast since her mother’s suspected abduction, she previously did an interview with former ‘Today’ coworker Hoda Kotb—who also filled in during Savannah’s absence—during which she detailed her experience of the ordeal.
