184. La main dans la main


Cette chanson est dédiée à Camille Casanova, la fille d’Eugénie, poétesse surnommée la « Muse du Berry » avec qui Paul Delmet collabora souvent et à propos de qui je reviendrai dans une chronique future. « Quand on a vingt ans / On rêve au printemps ! » chante Paul Delmet. Hélas il ne put jamais l’adresser à son fils Jean que vous voyez sur la photo, car il mourut en 1904 lorsque Jean avait encore 14 ans. Le destin tragique de cette famille ne s’est pas arrêté là, puisque Jean n’atteignit jamais l’âge de 20 ans… Il devait mourir à 18 ans.


This song is dedicated to Camille Casanova, the daughter of Eugénie, poetess nicknamed the "Muse of Berry" with whom Paul Delmet often collaborated and about whom I will come back to in a future column. "When you're twenty / Dreaming of spring!" sings Paul Delmet. Alas, he was never able to address it to his son Jean, whom you see in the photo, because he died in 1904 when Jean was still 14 years old. The tragic fate of this family did not stop there, since Jean never reached the age of 20… He was to die at 18.
