Inside Tims Incredible Barn Conversion Project in Staffordshire

When Tim and his partner were first shown a photo of this disused steel-framed barn in rural Staffordshire during lockdown, they never imagined it would become their dream home. But what started as a spontaneous idea has turned into one of the most remarkable barn conversions we’ve seen.

Welcome to Larchwood Barn - a stunning transformation where industrial structure meets warm, contemporary design. Once a single agricultural building, it’s now been split into two unique homes, both designed by the same architect and built by the same contractor - and both sharing that same bold vision.

Over 1,000 tons of concrete were crushed on site as the team stripped back the steel frame and designed a timber-framed SIPs structure to sit perfectly within it. Inside, the space opens up into a breathtaking 7-metre double-height living area, where light floods through floor-to-ceiling glazing into a sleek kitchen, dining, and living zone.

Across the ground floor, you’ll find open-plan family living at its best - with a second, cosier lounge, dining area, and a quiet study. Upstairs, there are five bedrooms, including two with en-suites and a generous main bathroom.

This is a story about creativity, collaboration, and making something truly extraordinary out of the unexpected.
