A tankless water heater, also called a "demand" water heater, heats water on-demand as it flows through the unit, eliminating the need for a storage tank. When a hot water tap is turned on, a flow sensor activates the heating element, which heats the water as it passes through a heat exchanger before it's delivered to the faucet. This provides an endless supply of hot water and is generally more energy-efficient than traditional tank-style heaters because it prevents the "standby heat loss" of keeping a large tank of water hot all the time.

How it works:

-When you turn on a hot water tap, a flow sensor detects the water movement.
-The sensor signals the unit to heat the water, and a gas burner or electric element is activated to warm it.
-Cold water flows through a heat exchanger, which transfers heat to the water.
-The hot water is then delivered to the faucet, providing a continuous supply until you turn off the tap.
