Simonton Windows, founded in 1946 as Penn Vent Awning Company by Fred and Sybil Simonton, has grown to be one of the top five vinyl window manufacturers in the country with nationwide distribution. The following is a brief timeline outlining the history of Simonton Windows:

1946 - Fred and Sybil Simonton founded Penn Vent Awning Company and began manufacturing aluminum awnings, storm windows, and storm doors at a plant located in Pennsboro, W.Va.
1964 - Sterling Simonton, only son of Fred and Sybil, purchased the company.
1974 - First aluminum replacement windows with insulating glass added to product line.
1979 - Name changed to Simonton Aluminum Products, Inc. to better represent product lines as window sales increase.
1981 - Name changed to Simonton Building Products, Inc. as the company begins manufacturing its first vinyl replacement window.
1984 - Initiated the 14-day delivery policy.
1986 - Opened Pennsboro Industrial Park manufacturing facility.
1989 - Sterling Simonton sold Simonton Building Products, Inc. to SBR, Inc.
1991 - Pennsboro manufacturing facility achieved milestone production of 1,000 windows a day.
1992 - Name changed to Simonton Windows. Initiated the 7-day delivery policy.
1993 - Purchased Harrisville, W.Va. manufacturing facility. Pennsboro plant achieved milestone production of 2,000 windows a day.
1994 - Introduced proprietary vinyl replacement window line, The Simonton Collection. Purchased Paris, Ill. manufacturing facility.
1995 - Purchased Vacaville, Calif. manufacturing facility. Introduced a line of proprietary vinyl new construction windows, ProFinishTM.
Obtained first patent for the Lap-Lok® meeting rail.
Opened Product Development Center at the Pennsboro Industrial Park site featuring a lab and test chamber.
1996 - Introduced proprietary vinyl replacement window, Series 2000, in California.
Achieved milestone production of 100,000 windows in a month company-wide.
1997 - Opened Ellenboro, W.Va. manufacturing facility.
