How to Fix Incomplete Battery Charging with a Balancing Charger

Most 18 & 20 volt battery packs for cordless tools are made up of five series-connected Lithium ion batteries (or sets of paralleled batteries).

When one or more of these get out of sync with the others, this prevents the battery pack from fully charging, and it also prevents the battery pack from fully discharging. This drastically limits the amount of power you can get out of the battery pack as a whole.
