Rotary sifter made from a 55 Gallon drum, car spindle and powered by a drill! This was a fun project for me and Mike from 420 Engineering. He kinda looks like Ozzy don't you think?
Salvaged: 12 AWG square tubing from a car port, 55 gallon steel drum with bungs, #40 chain left over from the Panzer build, hard rubber wheels were also laying around. The bearing was given to me, Timken P/N HA 590115 "Axle Bearing and Hub Assy".
The welded wire (screen) was purchased from McNichols.com and was by far the most expensive component - over $110.00. I tested it with std hardware cloth but sharp rocks poked a few holes. I have about $135 invested in this project.
After tons of searching/research I came to the conclusion a 1/2 drill was the best choice for the power source. I've wanted to do this for years and I am so glad I did. It rocks! Pun intended. The original design was to use a gas powerhead so I could use it anywhere but it sucked BAD. I don't call my shop Fubar Tractor Factory for nothing!
