Game Wardens Investigate Illegally Hunted Deer

On January 4, 2025, officers with Florida Fish and Wildlife were on patrol in Osceola National Forest when they heard a deer running followed by one shot and then several more. Working with a trained K9, officers located a recently killed antlerless deer and freshly fired purple shotgun casings. The officers began questioning the individuals and checking ammunition to determine which individuals shot the deer.

While they had a confession for the initial shot, officers were yet to determine who fired the follow up shots that ultimately killed the deer.

While officers continued questioning one group, another officer contacted the other part of the group nearby.

In the end, both individuals that shot at the deer received misdemeanor charges.
