Freehand Sharpening The Easy Way With Just 2 Motions

Using a sharpening jig is ok but It won't Always give you the most usable edge. I found that this way of sharpening spindle gouges gets you really usable profile but also nice and sharp...
You don't need the jigs to get consistent,all you need is a bit of practice and persistance, and the benefiths of using a freehand sharpening method is far greater then using jigs as it will teach you light touch on the lathe.
