I've been riding off road motorcycles for several years now but I'm still new enough to remember what it was like when I was a beginner off road motorcycle rider. Building off road motorcycle skills in areas like line choice, balance and bike control, precision application of clutch and brake, and learning when to go fast and when to go slow while riding have helped me progress from a very terrified new off road motorcycle rider to a less terrified experienced adv and dual sport motorcycle rider.

The difference between successfully navigating a difficult off road motorcycle section and failing halfway up is confidence and commitment. Beginner dual sport riders don't know how to commit. Beginner ADV riders don't know how to commit. Experienced riders learn to believe that they are going to get to the top of the hill, and most of the time they are correct. An easy way to distinguish a dual sport beginner vs pro is how confident and relaxed they are when they ride. ADV beginner vs pro is the same thing.
