European leaders from France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Britain, and Denmark have issued a joint statement supporting Denmark and Greenland following U.S. President Donald Trump's renewed interest in acquiring Greenland.

Trump has repeatedly emphasized the strategic importance of Greenland for U.S. defense, but the Danish government and European allies insist that Greenland belongs to its people and that any decision regarding its future must involve Denmark and Greenland exclusively.

EU Council President Antonio Costa and EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas have also affirmed their support, while leaders like Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Italian PM Giorgia Meloni, Canadian PM Mark Carney, and Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez echoed similar concerns.

This unprecedented show of European unity comes amid growing tensions over the Arctic region, NATO security, and international law.
