Synopsis:
During the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty, the Emperor ordered the Imperial Academy to reconstruct The Yongle Encyclopedia. However, during the process, the Wenyuan Pavilion mysteriously caught fire. Guo, the eunuch overseeing the project, was found dead — blood streaming from his seven orifices, yet with a strange smile on his face.

Female constable Tie Wushuang was summoned by imperial decree to investigate the case. As the inquiry unfolded, a series of new murders followed — high-ranking official Lord Huyan and the Empress’s most trusted maid were both found dead under bizarre circumstances. The killer was a masked woman, using a long-lost and brutal martial art from the jianghu: the Thousand Dragon Claws, a technique unseen for twenty years.
