Did my friend buy a fake Rolex?!?

Today we have Franco's watch on the bench, what should be a Rolex Explorer II reference 16570 but could this Rolex be a fake? He bought his watch for what he felt was a really good price, so good that he is a bit worried the watch might not be genuine...

Fake watches are a menace to the wrist watch industry and Rolex is the brand that is faked more than any other brand. A fake Rolex can in fact be bought openly online for a few hundred dollars and fakes are becoming increasingly difficult to spot. The best made fake watches look so much like the genuine ones that the only way to really determine whether your Rolex is fake or not is to open it up and look at the movement. And even there it can be difficult to see. So let's open Franco's watch up and see if it is really a proper Rolex Explorer II!
