David Cook was one of our favorites to watch on American Idol season 7 in 2008. Mrs. Share a Dream and I were excited to see him performing at Epcot for the first time in 2014. He put on a great (30 minute) concert.

David Cook was raised in Missouri and before American Idol he performed in a few bands throughout high school and college. He released his own solo album Analog Heart in 2006 and worked as a bartender. Life changed in 2008 when Cook made it on American Idol season 7, and won! His released songs after Idol broke records on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, having 11 songs on there in one week. One of the top songs was “The Time of My Life”. Later in 2008 David Cook released a self-titled CD under a major record label. He went on tour in 2009 and called the band he played with The Anthemic. Throughout the 2010s Cook released other albums and singles, as well as produced and wrote songs. In 2018 he played Charlie Price in Kinky Boots on Broadway. David Cook continues to have the time of his life producing music, writing songs, and raising money for brain cancer research.

The American Idol Experience opened on Feb. 14, 2009 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. An opening ceremony was held on Feb. 12 with all the American Idol winners, Paula Abdul, and Ryan Seacrest. David Cook performed “Light On” on the former Superstar Television stage and with Carrie Underwood they covered “Go Your Own Way”. All the former winners received a mic-shaped statue from Simon Fuller, the series creator.

In this 2014 home video you will see…

0:07 “Wicked Game” This Chris Isaak song was covered by David Cook and released a year after this on his fourth studio album Digital Vein. Only a minute of this song was recorded on my video.

1:56 “Come Back to Me” This song was released on David Cook’s 2009 self-titled album. The song was written by the Norwegian song writing team Espionage. It describes loving someone you can’t be near. Fans got to hear the debut song on American Idol on April 1, 2009. The B-side of this single was “Bar-ba-sol”. It reached position 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Epcot International Food & Wine Festival presented by Chase 2014. The 2014 season of Food & Wine featured the debut of the Farm Fresh booth which served griddled “yard bird” and a new Patagonia booth which served food and wine from Argentina and Chile. New musical acts for this festival were Jo Dee Messina, David Cook, Jim Brickman, and Los Lonely Boys. A new event called Back to Basics offered “epicurean tips and tricks from the pros that may seem simple but can have a profound effect on your next dinner party.” It was at the Spotlight Stage, inside the Festival Welcome Center (RIP Wonders of Life pavilion). One of my favorites inside the Festival Center was the California Adventure film “Seasons of the Vine” which played in the old Making of Me theater. I also enjoyed getting free Ghirardelli chocolate from The Chocolate Experience: From Bean to the Bar.
