Chocolate Churros (Best Eggless Version)

Ingredients

Churro Dough
• Water – 270 g
• Salted butter – 40 g
• Sugar –14g
• Vanilla extract – ½ tsp
• All-purpose flour – 120 g
• Cocoa powder – 20 g

Adjusting Consistency
• Milk – 1–2 tbsp (I used 2 tbsp)
or
• 1 egg (optional alternative to milk)

Cinnamon Sugar Coating
• Caster sugar – 100 g
• Cinnamon powder – 1 tsp

For Serving
• Melted white chocolate
• Melted dark chocolate



Method

1. Prepare the base

In a saucepan combine water (270 g), butter (40 g), sugar (14g), and vanilla extract (½ tsp).
Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.

2. Add dry ingredients

Add flour (120 g) and cocoa powder (20 g).
Stir vigorously until the mixture forms a smooth dough with no lumps and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

3. Adjust consistency

Transfer the dough to a bowl and let it cool slightly.

Add 1–2 tbsp milk (I used 2 tbsp) and mix until smooth.

Optional: Instead of milk, you can mix in 1 egg.

4. Pipe the churros

Transfer the dough into a large piping bag fitted with a large star-shaped nozzle.

Pipe directly into hot oil.

5. Fry

Fry at 170–175°C for 3–4 minutes, until crisp and cooked through.

6. Coat

Mix 100 g caster sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon powder.
Toss the hot churros in the mixture.

7. Serve

Melt white chocolate and dark chocolate separately.
Dip the churros in either chocolate or swirl them together for a mixed dip.

Enjoy warm.
