Achieving a correct Tow Ball Mass (TBM) is essential to mitigate sway and unsafe towing. Particularly in single axle Hybrid Caravans, weights can vary considerably, simply by moving weight and packing around the van. Understanding your vans propensity to be ball or rear heavy, helps you strategise on how to get as close as possible to a 10% TBM ratio to Aggregate Towing Mass (ATM), also making sure you meet all legal weight requirements specific to your van and tow vehicle. This is essential not only for your safety and others, but also important to satisfy insurance companies requirements in the event of an accident.
