Alice Sara Ott - Jóhannsson: The Theory of Everything

In her interpretation of "The Theory of Everything", Alice Sara Ott reimagines one of Jóhann Jóhannsson's most acclaimed works as a solo piano piece - drawn from the Golden-Globe-winning score he composed for the feature film of the same name. In this music video, recorded on analogue film in Reykjavík, the atmospheric images of the Icelandic landscape beautifully complement Jóhannsson's timeless music and its quiet intensity.

"There's a very special intimacy and urgency in his musical language," she says. "It speaks to what people long for in today's noisy and sometimes very dissonant world. The way he builds the architecture and structure of his music really allows you to refocus and reflect."

These premiere recordings are Alice Sara Ott’s solo piano reimaginations, bringing 30 of the late Icelandic composer’s hauntingly beautiful works to life with her personal touch - marked by great musicality and a profound understanding of his musical language.
