Morse's Selection of Great Works for Gallery of the Louvre
Terra Foundation Curator Peter John Brownlee explains how Morse likely used color as an organizing principle for the selection and placement of pictures in Gallery of the Louvre. Morse may also have placed his pictures because of the lessons they presented both individually and in relation to one another. Guido Reni's The Union of Design and Color is one such example, which Musée du Louvre Curator Stéphane Loire describes as a painting lesson on the reconciliation of design and color.

'A New Look: Samuel F.B. Morse's Gallery of the Louvre' was produced for the Terra Foundation of American Art by Sandpail Productions.
