It is part of the main Balkan corridors railway lines between Southeast and Central Europe. This video shows two directions, Belgrade - Subotica and Subotica - Belgrade. The filming was done from an EMU Stadler KISS train (IC 543 and IC 544 "Soko" trains on Serbian Railways). On most of the line, the train moves at the maximum permitted speed of 200 km/h, while there are also sections with lower permitted speeds, from 100 and 120 km/h up to 160 and 180 km/h. The video is divided into several subsections for easier viewing: 00:00:00 00:03:18 Introductory scenes (preview) 00:03:18 00:29:00 Subotica - Vrbas 00:29:00 00:41:21 Vrbas - Novi Sad 00:41:21 01:20:50 Novi Sad - Beograd Centar 01:20:50 01:57:32 Beograd Centar - Novi Sad 01:57:32 02:12:12 Novi Sad - Vrbas 02:12:12 02:37:50 Vrbas - Subotica The length of the line from Beograd Centar to Subotica is 177 km. The fastest trains cover this section in one hour and 19 minutes, stopping at 4 places along the way. The intermediate stations for the IC trains are Novi Beograd, Petrovaradin (instead of Novi Sad station), Vrbas, and Bačka Topola. The railway line and the Stadler KISS train are equipped with ETCS Level 2 signalling and train movement protection system. There are also classic signalling and safety devices and signals on the line, as other passenger and freight trains also operate on it within the PZB movement protection system. There are several prominent large infrastructure objects, bridges, and tunnels on the line, the most significant of which are: Bridge "Novi železnički most" (1928 m), Tunnel "Bežanijska Kosa" (1921 m), Tunnel Čortanovci (1156 m one tube, 1087 m another tunnel tube), Viaduct Čortanovci (2806 m one track, 2861 m second track), Combined road / railway bridge over the Danube river in Novi Sad, 2 bridges over the Danube - Tisa - Danube channel and a long double-track viaduct in Vrbas (over the Veliki Bački Kanal and the industrial part of the city). On its journey between Belgrade and the far north of the country, the train passes without stopping the largest intermediate city in Vojvodina, Novi Sad. The train passes the large abandoned platforms of the Novi Sad station because that railway station was closed to passengers after the great tragedy that occurred on November 1, 2024, when 16 people died in the collapse of the railway station canopy, which caused large student protests that are still ongoing. The alternative stopping place for the train is the suburban settlement of Novi Sad, the location Petrovaradin. Part of the journey shows the morning ride of the train towards the rising sun on the horizon, in cloudy and partly rainy weather. Raindrops and the phenomenal play and alternation of clouds and lighting effects in the sky make the trackside scenes unique and interesting to watch. The high speed of the train also contributes, as different trackside weather conditions, sunny moments, rain clouds, scattered and dense dark clouds with a low sun illuminating the track, change very quickly. At the end of the journey, the weather completely changes from scenically dark and rainy to sunny with a blue sky and the remainder of broken leftover clouds. Additional information about trackside events, current locations, maximum permitted speed, limited speeds, slow-order movements, connecting lines along the way, and elevation are shown in the video.
