What helped make the visual storytelling in WALL·E that much better? Explained.

There’s not that much dialogue in the movie Wall-E. It’s a lot of beeps, boops and a lot of.... [Inset WALL·E Chaos] Meaning a large aspect of the movie is reliant on pure visual storytelling. So, in order to get into the right mindset to tell the story of WALL·E, the film's director, Andrew Stanton, made his team watch every single Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton movie to analyze their physical comedy. Stanton and his team would watch both Keaton and Chaplins short film and features, every day during lunch for about 18 months.
