Today’s journey begins at the hauntingly beautiful Döda Fallet — the “Dead Waterfall” — a place with one of the most devastating and fascinating stories in Swedish history. Massive environmental damage, destroyed livelihoods, and a legal battle that lasted until 1974... all because of one tragic engineering failure.

I first heard about this place from Silvia (thanks again! 🙏), and I'm so glad I visited. While the original waterfall is gone, two new ones have since emerged, now powering local communities through hydroelectric energy.

After exploring this powerful place, I followed the call of the rivers once more (Sweden really is full of them!) and ended the day with a peaceful drive into dusk. When I arrived at my camping spot, I was surprised with a cozy little stuga — the perfect ending to a day full of nature, history, and reflection.

If you're into nature, hidden stories, and slow travel through Scandinavia, this one’s for you.
