Of the many creatures of Chinese legend, few, if any, are as revered and honored quite like the Four Auspicious Beasts. Made up of the Black Tortoise, the Vermilion Bird, the White Tiger, and the Azure Dragon, the sacred four creatures are celestial beasts that each protect a cardinal direction, and are deeply associated with the seasons, the elements, colors, the time of day, and more.
