What happens when someone grows up inside a high-control religious community and later decides to speak out?

In this episode of Minutes With, Lacie Jones shares her story of growing up as a Jehovah’s Witness and the challenges she faced within that environment. Lacie talks about her childhood, the strict expectations placed on members of the congregation, and how her life changed when a trusted figure within the church crossed a serious boundary.

Lacie reflects on the impact this had on her mental health, the difficulty of speaking up, and the long process of seeking justice. She also discusses the complicated relationship between faith, community and accountability, and why she ultimately decided to share her story publicly in the hope that it encourages others to speak out and seek support.

Today, Lacie is focused on raising awareness about safeguarding and helping others who may have experienced similar situations within closed or high-control groups.
