J. Antelyes, D.V.M. of Middle Village, N.Y., delivers a speech originally prepared for and presented at the American Veterinary Medicine Assn. Convention at Louisville, KY in 1966. He points out several crises facing veterinary medicine: the shortage of veterinarians in quantity and quality, and the staggering amount of knowledge accumulating (minor crises); and the major crises of starvation, contamination of the environment, psychological maladaption, and increasing pathogens, plus the threat of behavior control. His solution: use of the intellect, assumption of responsibility and communication to all men.
