Ride in the front seat of one of Europe’s most scenic narrow-gauge railways with this full-length, real-time journey from Locarno, Switzerland, to Domodossola, Italy, aboard the Centovalli Railway. Filmed through the publicly accessible front window on an ABe 4/4 panoramic car, this video provides a continuous, uninterrupted view of the winding tracks, deep gorges, cascading waterfalls, and charming alpine villages that define this breathtaking cross-border route.

🛤️ About the Centovalli Railway:
The Centovalli Railway (or "Hundred Valleys Railway") is a spectacular metre-gauge line that links Locarno, Switzerland, with Domodossola, Italy, via the scenic Valle Vigezzo and the rugged Centovalli region. First opened in 1923, the railway was designed to provide a direct route between the Lake Maggiore area and the Italian rail network while showcasing the region's natural beauty. With 83 bridges, countless tunnels, and dramatic elevation changes, the line is regarded as one of Europe's most picturesque train journeys. Unlike other more widely known Swiss Trains, such as the Glacier Express, the Centovalli is much more of a hidden gem, using shorter trains and carrying far fewer passengers. For more info, visit:

🚆 About the Train:
This video was filmed aboard a modern ABe 4/4 panoramic train built by Skoda in 2007 and operated by Ferrovie Autolinee Regionali Ticinesi (FART) and Società Subalpina Imprese Ferroviarie (SSIF), who work together as an international partnership to run the Centovalli Railway. These trains are equipped with large, front-facing windows on the left side of the train that offer a spectacular driver's-eye view of the tracks ahead. Ideal for railfans and travelers alike, these cars provide a rare and intimate look at a hidden gem of European rail travel.

This was our first time experimenting with a new camera and gimbal setup, and while we’re excited about the results, we did experience a few minor hiccups along the way, particularly some reflections on the heavily slanted front window and slight gimbal movement in certain sections. About halfway through the route, we also encountered a brief rain shower, but thankfully, it didn’t impact the video quality too much! This channel is a small-scale operation run with extremely limited resources.
