South Korea has started deploying the high-power “monster” Hyunmoo-5 ballistic missile to frontline units, military officials said on January 18. The missile is regarded as South Korea’s most powerful weapon to date, with Seoul saying it is capable of delivering “ultra-precision, ultra-high-power” strikes. According to Yonhap News, the “monster” missile plays a crucial role in Seoul’s plans to deter Pyongyang and mount a response in the event of an attack.
