Amazon has an average order value of ₹1200, Flipkart has an AOV of ₹1800, and Meesho is nowhere close at just ₹269. And even though they ship products all across the country, they barely charge an average delivery fee of ₹37 — and somehow they have become profitable.
This is absolutely shocking because Deepinder Goyal just told you that they struggle to make money delivering food from a restaurant barely 10–15 kilometers away. So how on earth is Meesho supposed to make money by shipping a product that is half the value of a Zomato order and travels hundreds of kilometers across the country? But even then, miraculously, they have become operationally profitable in 2025 right ahead of their IPO. It looks gimmicky — but also miraculous — when you consider the average order value of just ₹269. This raises three very important questions: Why is Meesho stuck with a cheap order value of ₹269? How are they shipping products all across the country at an average cost of ₹37? And is this a crazy strategy or just a marketing gimmick before the IPO?
