Adrenergic antagonists are a group of drugs that inhibit the function of adrenergic receptors.
Alpha and beta receptor blockers allow blood to flow more easily thereby lowering blood pressure and the heart rate, which makes these drugs useful in treatment of cardiovascular diseases (e.g. hypertension, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and angina).
