When I first started playing guitar, I was self-taught, and I could do a bunch of cool stuff, but I had no CLUE what I was doing. Once I learned music theory and started understanding where the notes were on the neck and how they all worked together, it all just kinda clicked. It made so much more sense, and I was able to learn things faster, write cooler ideas, and communicate with other musicians a lot better.
